Birthday Steak on August 4
I made a grilled flank steak that was given to me for my birthday by some very good friends of mine. The meat was grass-fed and from the Hearst Ranch in San Simeon CA and was very nice. Anyway, I marinated it all day in a Korean soy and sesame marinade. I grilled some green onions and leeks, sauteed some shitake/maitake mushrooms and served it with grilled corn and soba noodles. We had to have corn, even though it didn’t quite fit the menu because it was the first from the farmer’s market……it was yellow and pretty good. I tried to add an Asian influence to it, but it didn’t quite work……
We drank an bottle of Trivento Malbec 2005
